Dr John-Mark Iyi obtained his PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand and he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the South African Research Chair in International Law, University of Johannesburg between 2014 and 2016.
He has taught at several universities in South Africa. In June 2020, Dr Iyi was appointed the Director of the African Centre for Transnational Criminal Justice and the Convener of the UWC LLM in Transnational Criminal Justice Programme. Dr Iyi researches in Public International Law with particular focus on Africa and contemporary international legal problems. He has published widely on themes in peace and conflict, terrorism, human rights and democratisation, international criminal law and transitional justice, international legal theory, ECOWAS, African Union, and the United Nations.
