The UWC Faculty of Law Celebrates Prof. Fareed Moosa’s Appointment as Acting Judge of the Western Cape High Court
The UWC Faculty of Law is proud to announce that Prof. Fareed Moosa has been appointed as Acting Judge of the Western Cape High Court, serving from 22 July 2024 to 20 September 2024. This prestigious appointment is a testament to Prof. Moosa’s extensive expertise and significant contributions to the legal field.
Prof. Moosa brings over 20 years of practical legal experience to the bench. His impressive career includes roles as an attorney, magistrate, chairperson of the Tax Board of Appeal, and arbitrator. His adjudication experience is complemented by 27 years as an academic at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), where he has been instrumental in shaping future legal minds and contributing to the body of legal knowledge through his numerous publications.
The Faculty of Law is confident that Prof. Moosa’s appointment will positively impact South Africa’s jurisprudence. His profound understanding of the law, honed through years of teaching, research, and practice, equips him with the skills necessary to excel in this role.
