Description
The paper explores the context of platform work in Italy in terms of the applicable regulatory frameworks as well as the organisation and representation of platform workers in the country. The focus is on online platforms matching supply and demand for paid labour. The main features of platform work are understood to be paid work organised through online platforms; three parties involved (the platform, client and worker); the aim is to conduct specific tasks or solve specific problems; it is a form of outsourcing/contracting out; ‘jobs’ are broken down into ‘tasks’; it provides on-demand services.
